FAQ

How many MB are in 1 GB?

1 GB = 1024 MB (in binary base used by operating systems). In decimal base (used by hard drive manufacturers) 1 GB = 1000 MB.

What's the difference between bit and byte?

1 byte = 8 bits. The bit is the smallest unit of information (0 or 1). Internet speeds are measured in bits/s (Mbps), storage space in bytes (MB, GB).

Why does my 1 TB hard drive show less space?

Manufacturers use decimal base (1 TB = 1000 GB) but the OS uses binary base (1 TB = 1024 GB), showing about 931 GB.
